How to Get There
The Storm Peaks
Ulduar is in the northern part of the Storm Peaks, beyond the Temple of Storms. The entrance is a portal at the foot of a huge staircase.
The Siege of Ulduar
The first fight is in vehicles against Flame Leviathan. After that, the path branches off toward the Keepers.
Bosses
1. Flame Leviathan
vehicle fight- The raid boards siege engines, demolishers, and choppers. Leviathan pursues one vehicle — that vehicle runs.
- Knock out its cannons and turrets, and “overload” the machine with passengers. The more Keeper towers you leave intact, the harder the fight and the better the loot.
2. Ignis the Furnace Master
the smith- The tank drags the Iron Constructs through fire so they soften, then through water so they shatter.
- Flame Jets interrupt spellcasting. Slag Pot — the player in the pot needs heavy healing.
3. Razorscale
dragon in the sky- While she's in the air, the engineers repair the harpoons. Four harpoons bring her down to the ground — then the whole raid attacks.
- Don't stand in Devouring Flame pools. At 50% she lands for good; Fuse Armor — swap tanks.
4. XT-002 Deconstructor
mechanical toy- Gravity Bomb and Searing Light — the marked player moves away from the raid.
- Tympanic Tantrum hits everyone and stuns. When the heart is exposed, attack it; destroying the heart activates hard mode.
5. The Assembly of Iron
Steelbreaker, Molgeim, Brundir- Three bosses at once; each one you kill empowers the rest. Whoever dies last determines the loot: Steelbreaker last means hard mode.
- Brundir: Overload — run away; Lightning Whirl — interrupt. Molgeim: stand in the Rune of Power, get out of the Rune of Death.
- The Assembly drops the Archivum Data Disc — the start of the quest chain leading to Algalon.
6. Kologarn
stone giant- The right arm grabs players — attack the arm to free them. The left arm hits with a shockwave.
- Focused Eyebeams follow a player — lead them away from the raid. The loot is in a chest.
7. Auriaya
keeper of beasts- Sentinel Blast — must be interrupted. Terrifying Screech fears the raid.
- Sonic Screech is split among everyone standing in front of her — stack up. The Feral Defender resurrects nine times.
8. Hodir
Keeper of Frost- Flash Freeze — stand on a snowdrift or you'll be frozen. Biting Cold — keep moving so you don't build up stacks.
- Free the helpers from the ice — they grant buffs. Kill him within three minutes for hard mode and a rare chest.
9. Thorim
Keeper of Storms- The raid splits up: some hold the arena, while others go through the trap-filled corridor to Thorim's throne.
- Chain Lightning — spread out. Get down to him while Sif is still alive — that's hard mode.
10. Freya
Keeper of Life- Three waves of adds: ancient spirits, tree guardians, and lashers. Each wave causes trouble in its own way — kill each one completely.
- Nature Bombs and Sunbeam — move out. Leave the Elders alive for hard mode and the best loot.
11. Mimiron
Keeper of Invention- Four phases: Leviathan Mk II, VX-001, the Aerial Command Unit, and all three together.
- Shock Blast — run away; Plasma Blast — hits the tank, healers get ready in advance. Laser Barrage — get out of the line.
- The big red button in the room activates hard mode, with fire all over the floor.
12. General Vezax
herald of Yogg-Saron- Aura of Despair shuts off mana regeneration — conserve your mana.
- Searing Flames — interrupt. Mark of the Faceless — the marked player moves away. Dodge Shadow Crash.
- Don't touch the Saronite Vapors — a Saronite Animus will appear, and that's hard mode.
13. Yogg-Saron
Old God- Watch your Sanity: lose all of it and you go over to the enemy's side.
- Phase 1: Sara and the clouds — don't touch the clouds, guardians spawn from them. Phase 2: tentacles and portals into the visions — a group goes inside to attack the brain.
- Phase 3: Lunatic Gaze — turn away. The Keepers help you; the fewer you take along, the harder it gets. Zero Keepers on 25-player — Mimiron's Head.
14. Algalon the Observer
envoy of the titans- The Planetarium door is opened by the Celestial Planetarium Key — the reward for the quest “Algalon”. The chain begins with the “Archivum Data Disc”.
- Big Bang — hide in the black holes left behind by fallen stars. Cosmic Smash — move away from the impact point.
- You get one hour for the fight, counted from the first attempt.
Loot
| Mode | Item level | Per boss |
|---|---|---|
| 10 players | ilvl 219, hard modes up to 232; Algalon 226 | 2 Emblems of Conquest |
| 25 players | ilvl 226, hard modes up to 239; Algalon 239 | 2 Emblems of Conquest |
Bosses drop T8 set tokens. On 25-player they also drop Fragments of Val'anyr for the legendary hammer; Mimiron's Head drops from Yogg-Saron on 25-player with no help from the Keepers.
Tips
Start with normal Ulduar. Each boss's hard mode is activated separately.
The key mechanic of the final fight is not going insane. When in doubt, leave the vision.
Algalon's one-hour timer starts with the first attempt — don't open him at the end of the evening.
Fragments of Val'anyr are collected only on 25-player.
