Partial group? No problem
Raids on Valor scale to the number of players: you can go in with a partial group — enemy health and damage will be reduced. Short on people? A 10-player raid can take up to 6 companion bots, a 25-player raid up to 17.
How to unlock heroic
Heroic mode unlocks after you defeat the Lich King on normal mode of the same size (the “The Frozen Throne” achievements for 10 and 25 players).

How to Get There

  1. Icecrown Citadel

The citadel is in the center of Icecrown. The raid entrance is at the main gates at the foot of the citadel.

  2. Size and mode

10 or 25 players, normal or heroic mode.

  3. Wings — after Saurfang

After Saurfang, three wings open up: the Plagueworks, the Crimson Hall, and the Frostwing Halls. The Lich King waits until all three are cleared.

Bosses

The Lower Spire

1. Lord Marrowgar

bone giant
  • Bone Spike impales a player — attack the spike to free them. Coldflame — get out of the line.
  • Bone Storm — the boss whirls around the room: spread out, and healers keep the raid up.

2. Lady Deathwhisper

leader of the Cult of the Damned
  • Phase 1: burn down her mana shield and kill the cultists who come in waves from both sides. Death and Decay — step out.
  • Phase 2 (shield down): Frostbolt — interrupt; run from the Vengeful Shades; tanks swap on Touch of Insignificance.

3. Icecrown Gunship Battle

battle in the sky
  • The raid is on its own gunship: some fire the cannons, while others use rocket packs to jump onto the enemy ship.
  • On the enemy deck, kill the mage who freezes the cannons and the boarding party commander.

4. Deathbringer Saurfang

death knight
  • Each Mark of the Fallen Champion heals the boss and wounds a player — the fewer marks, the easier. Blood Beasts — kill them at range and slow them.
  • Rune of Blood — swap tanks. The loot is in a chest after the fight.
The Plagueworks

5. Festergut

putrid abomination
  • He inhales the blight three times, then Pungent Blight hits the whole raid — healers get ready in advance.
  • Gas Spores — stand next to a spore to get protection. Gastric Bloat — swap tanks.

6. Rotface

ooze eater
  • Mutated Infection — the infected player goes to the edge, where a small ooze comes out of them; small oozes merge into a big one — kite it.
  • Don't stand in front of him — Slime Spray. The big ooze explodes at five stacks — spread out.

7. Professor Putricide

plague alchemist
  • Gas Cloud and Volatile Ooze: run from the cloud, and the whole raid catches the ooze together.
  • In the last phase, Mutated Plague stacks up on the tank — swap. Malleable Goo — dodge it.
The Crimson Hall

8. Blood Prince Council

Valanar, Keleseth, Taldaram
  • Only one prince is vulnerable — the power passes to another every ~45 seconds. Switch targets in time.
  • Valanar: Kinetic Bombs — knock them back up. Keleseth: shadow orbs — tanked by a ranged DPS. Taldaram: fireballs — lead them away.

9. Blood-Queen Lana'thel

vampire
  • A bitten player becomes a vampire and must bite the next player within ~15 seconds, or they lose control of themselves.
  • Swarming Shadows — drag the pool to the edge. Pact of the Darkfallen — the linked players come together.
Frostwing Halls

10. Valithria Dreamwalker

healing fight
  • The dragon isn't attacked but healed to 100%. DPS hold off the waves of undead in the room.
  • Healers go into the dream portals for orbs — they boost healing. The loot is in a chest.

11. Sindragosa

queen of the frost wyrms
  • Unchained Magic — the more often you cast, the more it hurts; take breaks. Blistering Cold — run 25 yards away.
  • Ice Tomb: marked players get frozen in — hide behind the ice blocks from Frost Bomb. In the last phase, the blocks clear Mystic Buffet.
The Frozen Throne

12. The Lich King

Arthas
  • Phase 1: Necrotic Plague — dispel it so it jumps to the Horrors. The Horrors are tranquilized and kept away.
  • Phase 2: Soul Reaper — tank swap. Val'kyr carry players off to the edge — bring them down. Defile grows — step out immediately.
  • Phase 3: Harvest Soul — the player is pulled into Frostmourne and must help Terenas. At 10% — the finale.

Tips

Emblems of Frost — the main currency

Two from every boss. They buy T10 set pieces.

The Lich King — a separate evening

The final fight is long and hard. Come with plenty of time to spare.

Dispelling magic and diseases

Necrotic Plague, Festergut, and Lana'thel test how attentive your healers are.

Two tanks are a must

Almost every boss requires tank swaps.
